MATERIAL
100% Mulberry Shappe Silk NM 30,000 is crafted from the finest fibers produced by Bombyx mori silkworms, fed exclusively on mulberry leaves. Renowned for its unparalleled smoothness, strength, and durability, this silk embodies true luxury. The NM 30,000 count signifies 30,000 meters of yarn per kilogram — an ultra-fine, lightweight thread ideal for delicate applications. Despite its finesse, mulberry silk is naturally strong and features a luxurious sheen. Soft, breathable, and highly absorbent, it offers superior comfort while being gentle on the skin.
CARE
For optimal care, dry cleaning is recommended to preserve the fabric’s luster and structure. If hand washing is necessary, fill a clean basin with lukewarm water (around 30°C / 86°F) and use a mild, pH-neutral detergent or a special silk wash. Avoid harsh detergents, bleach, or softeners. Gently swirl the fabric in the water—do not rub, twist, or wring. Soak for no more than 5 minutes. Machine washing should be avoided unless absolutely necessary; if you must, use a mesh bag and set the machine to the gentlest cycle with cold water.
Rinse gently with cold water to remove any detergent. For drying, lay the fabric flat on a clean, absorbent towel, rolling it gently to remove excess water. Reshape the fabric and air dry it in a shaded area, away from direct sunlight and heat. Never tumble dry, wring, or hang silk while wet, as this can stretch and distort the fibers.
If ironing is needed, use a low heat setting with steam. Place a cotton cloth over the silk and press gently, always ironing on the reverse side to avoid shine marks. Avoid using high-heat settings or spraying water directly onto the fabric, as this can stain the silk.
Store your silk garment in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep it in a breathable cotton bag or with acid-free tissue paper. Consider using silica gel packs or natural moth repellents, such as lavender or cedar, to protect against moisture and pests. Avoid plastic bags, as silk needs to breathe.
